A D17 cannot pull a chisel plow.

Maybe an "M" can't pull a chisel plow because IH didn't have the weight transfer technology of the more advanced design Allis Chalmers, but there are snap coupler chisel plows that do a nice job behind D-17's, and even D-15's. AC proved in 1948 with their traction booster system that you don't need a huge clumsey, ungainly monstrosity of a tractor to do a lot of field work. Have a good day. TED

And furthermore, you don't have to flood gas out of the carb to get a D-17 started.

when aperson chisels the machine runs at least 10 inches deep an pulls like the devil. i use a 5288 so it is hard to have gas flooding out of the carb. like on a ALICE chalmers.
