Model B Carb Linkage

Currently I have it hooked into the carb linkage hole and pulling toward the front of the tractor and have it is hooked to one of the studs that mount the intake/exhaust manifold. That is the way that the spring that was on the tractor when I got it was pulling.

The way that I have it doesn't seem like it will pull the carb back to the idle position. However, since this is my first experience with any engine with a governor, I don't know. I have the manuals, but they just show the spring hooking to the linkage and going straight up in the air, so I don't know where to hook the other end.

Someone please tell me where to hook this thing so that I get it right the first time.

The spring that you are referring to is an anti-surge spring and not a pull back spring. The purpose of the spring is to keep the governor from surging when you open the throttle and it sounds like you have the spring hooked correctly. Have a good day.

Thanks for your reply. It seems that none of the manuals answer these little sniglet questions and only through the experience of others can one get the correct information.

I will leave the spring where it is and hope that the rascal will work as it is supposed to.
