How to change the direction of the PTO on our 1964 AC D17?

We are wanting to use our AC D17 to power our sawmill.

We need the PTO to turn counter clockwise to run the saw in the right direction.

I thought there was some way to change the direction of the PTO, but can"t remember how to do it.

Anyone know how to change the direction of the PTO?

Thank you all for your help. You have all given me a lot to think about.

I think we might just get an old motor and transmission and build an independent system and not use the tractor to power the sawmill.

Any tips on hammer mills and old sawmills will be greatly welcomed!

Do what my Uncle did when he powered his sawmill with the PTO from our 190. Cut the axle from and old full-floating axle truck rear-end. mount this axle with a tire so the tire will drive the saw mandrell belt pulley by fricton. you can use trunbuckells to adjust. Then build a plate that will bolt where the truck floating axle did on the tire hub. In the center of this plate weld a PTO splined stub shaft. Then hook-up your PTO shaft and make lumber.

When we use to run a saw mill with the WD or the 45 it was with the belt pully. Then you just twisted the belt 1/2 a turn. If you are trying to go direct of the PTO with no belt, you are going to need a gear box.

Find a standard transmission and build a PTO shaft from the front of the tranny to the PTO,or you can reverse the tranny and have 3-5 speed in the changed direction. we did this with our hammer mill.

No way to do it internally on the tractor. Might find a gearbox to do that, that you put in the power line to the saw. 1:1 dropbox would do that.
