I have a bad FMJ magneto on my C. The impulse coupling is broke, so I am going to change the mag. I have a mag off my old WC, it says FM-X4B3 on the side. Is anyone familiar with this model? Will it work on my C? If so, how do I time it? It is definately not easy to time like the FMJ (both gears are in the mag body, instead of one gear being in the cap). Therefore, I can"t simply mesh the A or C groove with the beveled tooth in the mag body. The gears in the FM-X are both in the mag body, and they are already meshed. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

FMX is slightly oder than the FMJ. THE 4 means 4 cylinder, the B means it is a coupling drive type, and the 3 means "Allis". so yes, you have the correct mag. The timing is about the same, If the gears havenever been removed, then all is o.k. and ready to go. I would assume that, and just time to the motor so #1 plug fires at TDC on the crank timing mark. Listen for the "snap" when you bar it over to the TDC mark.
