I have a 1939 B. I have read on someone or others web site that the C mark on the fiber gear has to mesh with a "dog ear" or chamfer on the steel gear. My steel gear has no such mark. All that I see is that one of the steel gear teeth valley's has a dimple below it in the casting and also under a different one of the steel gear teeth there is a rectangular opening where it looks like there is a pin of some sort. Someone please help me figure out which tooth my fiber C gear mark is sapose to mesh with. My tractor has been sitting for six weeks, the grass is growing wild, and my wife is threatening to buy a lawn tractor from Lowes.

For you, the tooth with the dimple below it is the one to line up with the marked teeth of the distributor gear.
