Does anyone know if a distributor off a WD would fit on a C? Thanks,

If the distributor base has the mag style flange monting, they will interchange freely. I swap mine back and forth frequently as a trouble shooting tool.
If one tractor is a little testy, I swap ignitions with one that isn't, to eleminate that variable.
Mag to distibutor, distributor to mag, it doesn't matter as long as you can supply power to the distributor.

John Brillman does a great job at rebuilding mags. Does great work and is reasonable with his prices. His number 1-888-274-5562 He lives close to me and does all my mag, generator, and starter work. I may have a distributor set up for a C as well. I'd have to take a look for sure though.

John, I went over to the friends place and got it going. Battery cables didn't have a good ground. I think we may try a new condenser before tossing the mag. Tractor starts good cold. After an hours use, if it is stopped, it won't start again for an hour. I don't think it is vapor lock. I think it is in the mag. Anyway, he is running again so we will put off rebuild or replace for a while. Thanks,

If it is the adapter that is sold to replace the magneto it should fit.

Some will and some will not. Or maybe its just the WD45 that will not. I know I have looked at them and figured they should work from the B/C/WC/WD but have found its only true part of the time depending on which type you have

Yup. I was afraid of that. I've put a WD-45 setup on a WD with no problem but haven't tried the WD with a C or a B. There are a lot more WD parts around which is the reason for the question. Thanks,

I wonder if the governor and housings are different. This C has a mag and it is looking like it needs a major rebuild. I'm just looking for options. It would be great if the castings and parts are same from the cam gear back. I guess I didn't ask the question that way. Could I buy a WD distributor, castings and governor and make it work? Thanks,

Neither one came with one, but the mountings are the same. OK- maybe the late WD had the distributor. Still- the conversion works. Starts better.

Hey, TD, you"re messing with my mind...granted, that is easy to do. WD and C would have different governors, governor springs, speeds, etc. Different ci engines. But I have RC, C, WC, (styled and unstyled) WD, WF---that all share the same mag, and could mount distributors on those castings behind the gov.
