Could someone tell me what color yellow AC used in 1968 on this machine? Want to paint it origional. Are the upper track rollers on the 4 the same size as on a HD3, 5, or 6?
Back in Dec. a couple of readers gave me the names of several water pump rebuilders for this engine. I lost that info. Would appreciate recieving it again. Thanks

H3 and HD3 have just about the same undercarriage adn final drives as the H4 and HD4. Later 650 series are also the same. HD5 and HD6 are totally different.

Any pump rebuilder can fix that water-pump, there's nothing special about it. You can probably still buy the parts new from Allis-Gleaner Co. (AGCO).

So do I for my HD4 - but I'm too cheap to buy new ones. I keep hoping to find some good used ones.

If your bearings and mounting tabs are OK, you can build them up with an arc welder...takes some time....but if you like to weld....it's fun..... RP

Yeah, I've done plenty over the years. Many undercarriage shops used to have special equipment to do it - and the build-up job was much nicer than you'd ever get by hand. But . . . , any of those shops I know of stopped doing it. Not worth it it due to new cheap afermarket parts. Now that new parts have gotten sky high ??? An additional problem is - many newer crawlers use special alloys that don't work well with build ups from welders.
