15-40 Motor oil in Allis G Tractor?

Would it be OK to use 10-40 Oil in my Allis G? I don't have hydraulic equipment that I use with it. It is a newly rebuilt engine. Thanks.

BAW, i would only use sae 30 in an older type gas engine, it might be ok to use 10w40, but in a rebuilt gas engine 15w40 would be ok, but never put 15w40 in a gas engine with lots of hours, the reasion i say this is because, the gas engine with lots of hours will clean out, the oil will loosen all dirt and in about 10 hours it will blow oil out everwere, i done this before and i ended up with a blown engine, but with a fresh engine i would do it, i re built my WD 45 engine and is working fine with 15w40..

its recommended by many to use 15-40 in older gas engines. Still has the ZDDP anti-wear additives. 10-30w,10-40w and single weights after the SL rating have had ZDDP level greatly reduced. It was hurting the cat converter and oxygen sensor life. ZDDP is needed to extend lift/cam life. google ZDDP,cam,lifter wear.
