I have a 1950 A-C Model B that the original owner's wife swears had a tachometer on it because she used to refer to it when setting the belt pulley speed on the tractor. I can find no sign of any mechanical sending unit on the tractor, but I see from my parts manual that one was available for the tractor. I suppose that it was disposed of many years ago when it quit working.

My question is: Does anyone know of a source of electronic tachometers that has a range of only 0-2000 or 0-3000 rpms? The max rpms for this motor is only about 1800 rpms. That will barely show up on the ones that you find in the auto parts place that has a range of 0-8000 rpms. I have seen digital tach/hour meters from Northen Tool, but a digital tach just wouldn't look right on a 50 year old tractor.

If your looking for a OEM for the Allis B I can't help you, but if you just want to check the RPM's
I carry a Stewart-Warner hand held tachometer in my combine that reads from 50 RPM's to 4000 RPM's.
Today would most likely cost from 50 to 60 bucks. Time out!!!! If you have an account with Grainger or know someone who has, I just looked it up, Cat#388, page 879,cat# 2X132 for 52.40
