Last thing I "need" is another tractor (got 13 now)...but, one has come up for sale local & I'm on the fence. It's a 40's model B. Hasn't run in 2 or 3 years, but, it's complete. Motor spins, but no spark. Oil is clean, it's been outside, but covered. All wheels & tires are junk, (rusted out/ flat/dry-rotted). I noticed the exhaust manifold is rusted out too...no muffler....just a project...I don't even know if the magneto is good. Asking price was $500, he's dropped it to $400 & will deliver....should buy it????

BUY IT!!! mine was $450 with 3 tires/rims/wheels needing attention/replacement when i got it. So yes, do it!!! BTW you dont have too many tractors until you come home from and auction with another one, unload it, and realise you have one just like it, LOL :-)

i should add that on mine both front rims and tires were shot, and the back had one complete side in great shape but the other side was missing a rim, but had a tire. And my exhaust manifold was in great shape. Still sounds like a good deal to me

Sure you buy if you like tractors. The B is one of the best little tractors ever made. I am sure you know that. Wayne

Third Brush Generators - by Chris Pratt. While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery. I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity". After a few paragraphs I usually close the book and go back to banging out dents. A good friend and I were recently discussing our tractor electrical systems when he stated "I figure it all comes back to applying Ohms Law". At this point
