I am 16 and thinking about getting my first tractor. it is a AC CA. i don't know the year or anything. my dad says that it has been in the same place for at least 20 years. last year we looked at it and tired the crank but the engine was stuck. i was wondering if anyone could help me with an amount that i should offer for it and if it would be worth it to get it and try and restore it. as far as i know it is complete but i am not sure. thanks.

Glad to hear the 'ol tractor bug has bitten you. I bought a CA the other day that's been sitting for seven years, engine stuck, and the fella I bought it from thought it was a John Deere because someone had painted it green at one point. I bought it for $200, about what it would've brought at the scrap yard. This is always a good place to start when looking at one in questionable shape. That way if all the major components are toast you can get your money back should you decide to scrap it. Personally, though, I think you should always try to sell them for parts before considering the scrap direction if it's not fixable.

I would say $300 to $350 Im 14 and have 2AC Cs a farmall super c and 20 garden tractors. You get one youll want another and another next thing you know youll have 100. Hope the deal works out Dustin

It sure is good to see a young man thinking about getting his FIRST tractor!! Usually young men think about their, first CAR.

Thanks. a car will some soon enough. but tractors are more fun. My dad has a D-14 and i love it. that is main reason that i want to get my own tractor and i dont like seeing that CA sit there. also i like history to much to leave it.

$200-500 depending on how the tires are and how good or bad the sheet metal is. Also look at the rims real good because if they are bad to buy new ones are about $300 each

Hey, Rich- you must live in a lucky part of the country (OK, maybe not with all your current rain), but the CA is so much more of a tractor compared to the C, as long as it has the hand clutch. I wish I could find one for that kind of money around here. The live power feature is hard to put a price tag on. Bought a loose, non-running, tires are skins, complete Model C last year for $300. Family squabble, been talking to one brother for several years- finally he said come pick it up- no price set. I didn"t like that- Had told him earlier that I was thinking a two-price system, $300 as is, worth $500 if a simple tune-up gets it running, no engine knocks, etc. He said give me a couple hundred- I gave him 3 green C-notes, he punched it up on my trailer with the Bobcat, done deal, everyone was satisfied. But a CA, let the drooling begin!!!!! !!!

i think the sheet metal is good. i know one back tire is bad. not sure about the front two. i am not sure about the rims.

I would start off at around $200 unless the other guy has said he wants X amount and then if he says say $700 offer him $300 and see if you can meet in the middle some place
