AC G front end questions

I am helping a friend and neighbor get his AC G ready for spring work on his vegetable farm. I have noted the problems listed below. Given that he needs the G in the next few weeks, I don't want to get into anything that will lay it up for an extended period of time. We have the G operator manual and an I&T manual that "covers" a bunch of Allis models.

1. The front axle rear pivot pin is worn flat on the top (to 5/8" in the vertical dimension from the original 3/4"). The remains of the bushing appear to be sintered bronze (which I can find and replace). The pin appears to welded on the opposite side (front) of the axle. I am wondering if the weld can be ground off and the pin driven out and replaced with a 3/4" bolt (perhaps tacking the head). Has anyone had experience replacing the rear pivot pin?

2. The (lever) shaft coming out of the bottom of the Ross steering gear box has quite a bit of play both side to side and up and down. The exploded parts diagram shows 2 bushings. Before I tear into the gear box I would like to have replacement bushings on hand. Does anyone know the dimensions of these bushings? Or is this gear box likely too worn to be worth thinking about repairing?

3. A couple of the tie-rod ends are pretty worn. I have not been able to find anything but used ones. Does anyone know of substitutes that would fit the tapers in the steering arm and spindle arms and could be attached to the existing tie rods (or to new tie rods that we fabricated)?

Thanks for any assistance.

Yes.. you can replace that pin with a hard bolt, reweld the face, and then nut the threaded end.. use a hard one..

It's been a while since i was into my G box.. and my manuals and notes are at home.. but I think there is a sector adjust stud ont he top of the box.. see if you can take any of the slack up with that.. still

email me for a few places I was able to find spare parts at.

I check this site and they don't sell any of the steering components.
