I looked in transmission thru shifter hole and the shift syncro on 3rd gear looks worn. I wondered if tractor needs to be split then remove axle housings or if I can remove axle housings then remove transmission case with A frame?

Sarnia, there are many posts on this topic. I believe that most tractors can be made to work with a new fork assembly. I have repaired them in that way. Some do not feel it is possible. Others have tried my suggestions and had success.

Read the posts and then come back if you have questions. My feeling is that poor tolerances were permitted on the detent positions on shafts. New shafts or modified shafts will solve most problems.
