AC Model B 1941 Water in Tranny

Before this tractor was passed down to me my uncle had it stored outside for many years. When I got it found the water mixed with oil in the tranny. The shifter boot was missing for many years. I drained it and let it sit inside with the plugs open 6 months over winter. In spring I filled and ran it for a while. I checked expecting to find nice new oil but found the oil mixed with water again. So how do I get the water out? There appears to be pockets that will not drain.

While I am on the subject, what is the best oil to use? It has a PTO and hydraulic ram.

When you drain the rear end again you might want to put the plugs back in the bottom, then fill the transmission/rear end with a couple of gallons of diesel fuel and rock the tractor back to to flush the nasties out. Then drain and flush till clear befor refilling with new oil.
CaseIH has a shift boot #A26956, $10 2 yr ago, that is identical to the original B,C,CA,WC,WD, shift boot. Not the bellows style that AC went to in the '70s.

There are a total of 3 plugs to remove.one under the tranny, one under the rear, and one on the pto housing. Bob

Thanks guys. She has been sitting inside for a year or 2. I will get her in the shop this week and drain again. I probably did not do all the plugs last time.

If your tractor has hydraulics, there are three plugs to remove, otherwise two plugs. Also be sure the hyd cyclendar is retracted..

If I remember right there may be more drain plugs at the pump. I'm not at the farm this week so I can't look. Get under the rear near the pump with a light and look for plugs. There are oil cavities in this rear.

It's been a long time since I did mine. Trying to remember. The other plugs I think are on the pump besides the one in the bottom of the back of the rear. There is a suction relief valve plug and others by it that can hold some oil.
You also have to remember that the cylinder and line still have bad oil in them.

Use a 20w non-detergent motor oil.

Did you remove the plug in the rear of the tractor under the pump besides the transmission plug?
With both plugs out jack up one side of the tractor and let drain and then jack up the other side.
