I have had the clutch disc and pressure plate rebuilt at the local clutch shop. Took the rebuilt assembly home and installed it in the tractor and the clutch rod adjustment wouldn't adjust enough to let the clutch release when the clutch pedal was depressed.n Took engine aqnd clutch assembly back to clutch shop to be reworked. Re-installed on tractor with the same result...Clutch wouldn't release. Allis Chalmers repair manual specs were followed. Can anyone out there help me with this problem? Thanks.

After you get her going remember to STORE the G with clutch pedal locked DOWN. See owners manual, it took me a few years to read my manual and solve my clutch problems.

When you look at the clutch the center spline hub will be long on one side. This long part of the hub goes towards the pressure plate.

for this type of clutch there are two thickness of clutch facings a .125,and a .136,it sounds like the shop has the wrong facing.if you could post a picture I could be sure.I rebuilt clutch disks for over 27 years,cw

I believe you sent me an e-mail with your phone no. when I called you were'nt home so I left my no. the no. of the facing is 637 the .125,and 638 the .136 the clutch shop may not carry the .125,but they can get it.Out of california, and ohio there is a co. called 'Friction Materials'they can get it from.If you can't get it from them contact the co. that I used to work for,'Dealers Equipment'at 1-904-358-0103 they will ship it to you, hope I was some help,cw

Ford-s: Thanks, again for the clutch lining information....with a little luck may get the "G" running yet. The clutch problem is the last remaining hurdle!

um... Could it be that the clutch disc is installed backwards?, I did that twice on a Chevy truck 454 engine, I say "twice" cuz it was the first and the last time that I did that!
