AC B. Am re-installing the drag link. Does it matter which end goes where? On one end there appears to be plenty of room to go over the ball, but there is not enough opening on the other end for the ball to go in. I have it set up just like the parts manual says. Drag link, spring bumper, spring, bearing washer, bearing washer, threaded plug. There is just not enough room for the socket to fit over the ball. Any help is greatly appreciated..... ..Cecil

They are end sensitive, just don't remeber how to tell which is which. On all of mine one end had a different (shorter) cup, or spring perch was a different thickness. Did you pull the inner cups out? If so, you probably swapped something during assembly. take the one that doesn't fit and look at the cups and perches, may need to reverse something. It should all go together without a lot of forcing.

Thanks for the reply. I have just finished putting it together. I hope everything works OK.
The two ends are not the same. One end the opening is close to the end of the drag link, maybe 1/2" back, the other end the opening is maybe 1" back. I put the 1" end on the wheel steering arm, with the parts installed as per the parts manual. Put the other end on the pittman arm, installed a washer first then the pittman arm, another washer the spacer and then the spring. I assembled this end in exactly opposite order from the other end. Then the plug and a cotter key. Please let me know what you think. Thanks again for the help..Cecil

take the threaded plug out of the end, pull out the cup, then put the link over the ball. then reassemble and snug up the plug. i believe the end with more play goes in the front, but dont really see why it matters. look at the link, the hole in the back faces to the right toward the tractor ball, the hole in the front faces down on top of the ball.

I think there is spring & cup arrangement on the inside of the drag links. If the spring has expanded and pushed the cup to cover the opening enough to prevent the ball from fitting.

Try to pry out the cup (or force it back) & loosen the spring. May be filled with dirt & debris from years of usage.

Alot of drag links have a screw in plug in the end. Is theere a big screw slot with a cotter pin through it ? unscrew that and drop it on the ball.

Got the screw almost all the way out, but with the above parts installed the slot is to full and no room for the steering ball. One end of the drag link is made a little deeper than the other. On this end I can get it on the ball and tighten it up just fine, the other end is a little different, and with all the parts installed there is not enough room for the ball to fit in the opening. The drag link came off this tractor, so I feel that there is a little something that I am not doing, or am going about it wrong. Thanks for your reply..... .Cecil
