Thanks for the help from the previous post. I got the thing apart, but the weights are firmly attached. One thing I did notice is the thrust bearing makes a clicking noise like the balls are worn. A new one from my dealer is $92. Are there any places that would be cheaper? Also, there was not much oil or oil residue in the housing or on the parts. How well lubed should this be? There might be dirt in the oil line running from the block to the timing housing. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

usually they get enough oil from the crankcase you could check the line . most of the ball bearings do rattle . what was youre promblem again.

0k i went back and looked at youre previous post. you say the weights are intack and i gues the move freely on the pins if so have someone stand on the carb side and hold the arm that the throttle rod pins to . then with you on the gov side try to pull the lever at the gov that the hand throttle rod goes to back . theres a pin in the two that this checks . if thats good then someting has chaned in the length of the throttle rod or the carb shaft is loose one. with eveythink in place the carb should be wide open when thottle is pulled down and held with tractor not running . you can callme at 423 242 8596 if you have any more questions i talk better than i type.

I had a friend mess with the linkages. One thing that might be out of spec is the spring. All of the linkages move freely and there doesn't appear to be any slop in the pins. I will check the length and the carb side of things next chance I get. Thanks for the info.

spring usually get weaker which should not let the engine turn as many rpms as stock unless some one replaced the spring with a shorter stiffer spring .but that wouldnt be a allis chalmers spring at all.
