Couple of weeks ago I asked about the value of a D17 gaser with a loader for a buddy of mine. He went ahead and bought the tractor this week. It is in real good shape over all and so is the loader. Had to go look at it even though its not my color. We had a couple of questions: where would we find the serial number and can you tell us what are the differences in the different levels. His is a level 3 model.

Serial number is on the left front end of the torque tube, starts with D17- where the engine bolts to tube. Mostly cosmetic differences in the first 3 series. Live pto and hydraulics with the hand clutch (Power Director). Series IV had the independent hydraulic system. First three series are high pressure (3200psi) and low volume hydraulics- match your cylinders accordingly. All are the same power- about 53 hp.
