I have inherited a rare Allis Chalmers 1948 IB Serial No. IB1012 the serial No. started at 1000 My father bought tractor new in 1948 and used it to build a log cabin he claimed this is the first IB tractor to be sold to the public as per he was on their waiting list first. It has the factory pintle hitch, PTO and Belt drive all the goodies. It is damn near 100% original down to the original muffler. It runs perfect and drives perfect original 6 volt system never stored outside always in the garage and barn The paint has been resored minus the wheels It was not sandblasted It was hand done. I have the original owners manual and my fathers maintnance log tractor. This would be impossible to upgrade due to its rare original status and serial no. history. The price is very firm at $6,200 and never been for sale before this add. I am 30 miles south of St. Louis Mo. I do not have time to waste to send pics. If you are a serious buyer come and see it by appointment only. Call Jim at 636 274-9544. leave message if need be and I will return your call.

Heres a litle taste of my 1948 AC ib1012 That I was offering. Old paint was faded and I steel wooled and had it painted other than that it is 100% original I left original paint on wheels they cleaned up nice and have that AC perty silver and orange original paint.- tires, maintnance, and battery are the only things not original I have new decals but choose not to put them on the old ones were cracking. carb ,magneto generator, gauges spark plug wires, etc are all original and perfect working cond. Its not for sale no more I will let your curiosity imagine the rest of the tractor thanks to a few party poopers on this site.

Dont look Like an IB to me. Was'nt there like over 100,000 of those produced. looks like a 12 volt conversion as well. who knows what else. Same to ya Im not impressed kinda looks like mine before I had it painted a little dull but your tractor looks ok to me. Im not looking to get in a war with you, however you say what you want and that makes you feel good. God Bless America

Hey Guys -

Do you get many folks on the Allis DISCUSSION BOARD that come on here trying to sell something instead of in the classified ads??

Do they usually act like such a jerk to everyone and try to force their price tags down everyone's throats like this guy??

Looks like if the guy didn't even know enough to place his ad in the proper place, he sure wouldn't be acting like an a$$ to everyone...

But what do I know?? I'm mainly just an AC lurker, since I only have one old U and a WD and hope to have an old AC combine before too long... (I still like keeping up with most of your discussions...)

Howard

Jims, I didn't make a claim that the IB near me was mint..where did I say that? If you are an expert on IB's then you realize that The IB was a B with the rear drives turned a quarter turn to lower it..your rear drives are identical to any B in the country. What is different is the IB has a heavier front axle that lowers the tractor from the high arch axle or the straight axle on the later B's. I have seen this IB many times at work, it had a sickle bar mower mounted to it and my elderly neighbour used it all the time to cut his lanes. I don't pretend to be an expert on IB's but I know something about them, I see them at tractor shows on occasion and there's one two miles from my farm. I don't know your tractor, never claimed I did and as far as tractors are concerned I have seven and my budget isn't a problem. Good luck selling your tractor

I know where there's an industrialB and it can be had for about$1000..Industrial B's aren't that rare..this is just someone who thinks its rare because they don't get out much and see them. You can make an ordinary B into an industrial B by turning the rear drives a part turn to lower the rear end, then drop the front High arch axle..and Voila you have an industrial B

Would be rare if it was a 1946. Lots of luck selling it.

The initials IB prefix serial numbers started in 1948 at 1000 to 2570 So in 1946 a serial number with the IB prefix is unheard of or a fraud. Mine is the 12th tractor with IB prefix, ordered with all options so it is very rare indeed.

Actually, it doesnt seem to be at all. Seems in 1946 the numbers started at #1001 for the IB. In 1947 #1003. Then at #1010 in 1948. So yours was the third tractor produced in the third year of production, 12th unit over-all. I'm sure A-C didnt keep the others for themselves before they sold this magic machine toy uor dad. In spite of the low numbers, doesnt seem so rare and pricey to me, especially when production serial #'s ended at #2570 in 1953.

Don't ussually get into the Pi$$ing matches, but what ya called TXFarmallDan was really uncalled for....I did not see anywhere that he lower himself to call you or anyone else names.

I think ya owe the man an apology...

Second, you should post your for sale ad in the appropriate place. Either the classified or photo ads..

Well are you talking about FarmallFan or Dan It doesnt matter the guy was a real bum. This was my first time on this site and yes add was misplaced which Does not deserve the pathetic comments that followed immediatly. I wish this add could be removed but I have not figured it out yet, Why dont you have it flagged off concerned friend of Farmallfan. Tell your friend the same and perhaps he could control he personality disfunction.
