I could write a book on the subject but I can't type that much. We bought a 6060 2WD with fully equipped cab brand new. We sold it with a little over 4000 hrs. on it as a partnership broke up, and we were concerned with what all that power was doing to that little rear end.(That's probably not a concern with the 6080). However your other two respondents so far are both right. I have seen a rear end and/or parking brake fried from lack of lube.- misuse- whatever. The tractor has good and bad points, not much in between. I guess my biggest beef is the miserable PTO cluth/shifter/ engine thrust brng. problem/fix. etc. Probably your biggest concern will be how this has been used and maintained, as some of the aforementioned parts cannot take much abuse. Good luck. If you are interested in detail give me a call at 315 364 7604

I have a 6080 two wheel drive with cab I have owned since 1980. It has over 7,000 hours on it with basically no problems. It is used primarily for cutting hay and pulling a round baler. I have worked on AC systems on Deere and Ford tractors and the Allis has a better setup. In running in hot Texas summers I have replaced the compressor once and a couple of hoses and thats been it. Have had no engine or drivetrain problems. Have worn out 1 set of rear tires and 4 sets on front. I have no regrets and would buy another in a minute. I would also like to add this tractor made me an Allis fan, since I grew up with Ford's.

We had two of these tractors at one time and now were glad there down the road. The engines were an allis but the rest of the tractors drivetrain was a fiat. Our first one the pin that holds the spider gears in the diffrential worked it's way out and took out the rearend. We then purchased a four wheel drive to replace it. It was kind of a hard starting pig but it had 6000 hours on it. This tractor had a cab on it. It seemed to make all kinds of unusual noises in the transmission and driveline area so we got uneasy about it and sold it. The parking brake area was a weak spot in them. If somebody ran with the brake on it destroyed several things, it would expensive to fix. I think you had to disassemble the rearend to fix it right. Can't remember exactly. They are a nice tractor to operate and run cheap but we got a little gun shy of them.
