I have a 1982 model 5020. I think the key switch went bad. I am in the process of trying to remove it but can not get my hands in there. Do any of you have any ideas on how to get to the switch to replace it? The wires are tight and I can not move the switch enough to get to the wires to remove them from the switch. I tried to remoce the dash but I do not have a puller to remove the steering wheel. Any Suggestions???

My AC 5020 has a bad ignition switch. Pulling it out was not difficult, took the four bolts out from the side of the dash bord cover, pushed the dashboard cover up (about 2-3 inches), took the ring off the ignition switch and reached under to pull the ignition switch out.

robert - if i remember correctly, on my 5020 i disconnected the throttle control at the bottom below the dash. this allowed me to pull the dash panel up a couple of inches and i was able to get my hand in; it wasn"t easy, but it worked and kept me from having to pull anything else off. alan

Today's Featured Article - Pop's Tractor of Gold - by Gary Teate. My father was a simple man but could repair just about anythin mechanical that was ever made. From the time I was a young boy growing up in Jacksonville, Florida, I would spend a considerable amount of time helping my father repair or rebuild equipment and engines, etc. on our 2 1/2 acre "spread". Pop always dreamed of having more acreage out in the country where he could retire and tinker as much as he wanted and often reminisced about his boyhood days on his grandfathers farm in Montecello, ...
