I have recently purchased a lighted neon sign that says Allis Chalmers. It was purchased from a old Allis dealer, and was displayed in the showroom window. My question is how old is it? I know it is very old believe in the 1930's. The sign has been restored with very minimal work, but the sign is GREEN. Told that it is filled with Mercury is the reason for the color. Can anyone help me with the age or about it.

I don't know of any surviving AC personnel that could identify the age of that sign. I'm one of the last 3 survivors from the Fargo branch; we're all in our mid-70's.

Maybe you could find someone in the neon sign business that could pinpoint the time period when signs were made the way you describe.
