Steve, look under the tractor at the PTO drop box, you should see a rod coming up and to the rear with a knob on it.This drawing is for the WC but the idea is the same. Pull to run pto

Same as on the WC, WD, WD45. Above the pulley housing is a setscrew with a locknut. ENGINE OFF!! Loosen the nut and screw, slide the pulley assembly into the tractor a couple of inches, until the gears engage. Tighten setscrew- there are tapered holes in the pulley sleeve for this. Those tapered holes are not in alignment- find one that gives you about a 1/8 to 1/4 inch backlash on the face of the pulley when you rotate it back and forth. If still original, the dealer should have punchmarked the proper hole which gives correct backlash. Do not do this with the engine running unless you have the foot clutch locked down- since the gear you are engaging to is turning when the engine is running.
