got a D-17. no loader, new clutch, weather cracked fronts and good 60% rears. not the prettyest thing in the world. looking to sell mine. anyone have a price range? i do have aloader on it but plan on taking it off since it is cracked in a few spots.

ok guys it's a series II if that helps any. the power director is in good shape but the grille is bent up a little and it had live hyds for the load. anyone have a better idea of a price now?

That sounds about right for a 1-3 series tractor in the condition mentioned.

Big issue is, which series? Especially if it is a Series IV, versus the first three. What is the serial number? Series IV had the independent hydraulic pump, the others were live via the hand clutch. Big difference, plus the 3ph option on the IV.

to tell you the truth, i have no idea what seeirs it is. what are the physical differences? it has alive pump on the fron but that's for the loader.

Series I- 1001-31625. Series II-32001-41540. Series III-42001-72768. Series IV-75001-89213. With that independent pump on the front, it must be one of the first three series. Differences in the first three are mostly cosmetic.

Easiest way to spot a Series IV is to look at the spot on the right side where the belt pulley mounts. Series IV has the hydraulic pump and associated hydraulic lines in that space. Previous series had either the belt pulley there or a flat plate covering that spot. As previously mentioned, the Series IV has low pressure, high volume hydaulic sytem. Others were the opposite.

Paint colors on wheels, radiator screen design and color, decals. Tractor serial number is on the left front corner of the torque tube, where the engine bolts to the bell housing. Series IV had the independent hydraulic pump where the first three had the belt pulley option. Also had a 3ph option instead of the Snap-Coupler. I think the hydraulics were a lower pressure, and multiple stack valves, although the earlier series had better valve options as they went along. Series IV morphed into the 170.

I"m also looking at buying a D17 series IV. COndition is good and it has a light duty allis loader on it. Price? Buying it from an an older neighbor who was told that it is worth $5000???
