Folks, I've got an Allis D14 that wants to jump out of 3rd. How does one fix this problem, and is it worth it? Thanks

It can be fixed, but the cost depends on what is causing the problem. Worn forks can be fixed a lot easier and cheaper than worn gears can.

sometimes if you know someone who knows how to grind the shifter forks they can fix this i have done 2 a 170 and a d 15 and it has worked for several years where are u located we have an agco dealer here who has a mechanic that has done it for me David

Our CA started that with second gear I took the side cover off to see if I could figur out what the problem was and the shift forks had whear on them welded them up with a wire feed welder and filed them back down and put it back I had to weld up both sides on the one fork and one side on the other fork I think 1, 2, and 3rd had whear on them but 2nd was the worst and there was not alot of whear on there but I welded it up and hoped for the best and that was 3 or 4 years ago have not had problems of corse I dont know how long it will last but as long as it dont where out the calers in the trans it can be welded up agin

Does one have to split the tractor for this, or can it be done without removing the transmission? I am looking at possibly putting in a new clutch for a D14, and wonder if that would be a good time to look at the transmission and power director to make sure they are in good shape, but would rather not have to split the tractor.

I dont Know about A D14 but finding out if you can take a cover off the trans and look at the shift forks would be a good idia becous if you cant get at it fron the out side you will probly have to split the tractor to get it apart to fix the CA has a side cover that has the shift forks in it and it is all right there to look at but I have not worked on any other AC than a CA
