i have a 170 with moaning noise coming from the rear end when under load or a steep hill dont know where to start looking tried the final drive bearings on one side seem fine

Do your lift arms come up and stay up with the tractor running? If so you may have a stuck TB finger pressing the hydraulic spool valve for it and is making it continuously try to raise the lift arms. In that case the noise you are hearing might be the hydraulic oil dumping thru the relief valve. Post back as if you think that's it as I can help you more on how to fix it. Mike

No the noise has nothing to do with the lift arms it makes the noise under a tow load steep hill or heavy pull like a harrow
