Allis Chalmers B or C Crankshaft needed

Hi, New to the Forum. Bought a little Allis for my 12 year old Son to Help get things done around our place. You probably have all heard the story a million times by now. Engine was recently rebuilt, repainted, no expense spared....YEH!!! Engine started to knock after 20 minutes idling once I got it home. So I split the tractor, dropped the crank & found Std. bearings on a .030" under crank with the thrust wiped out. My sons disappointed thinking he"ll never get to use this thing. Dads steaming because he got taken & now has to fix something he hoped would help relieve the work load. Best thing about it is now he can learn even more about this tractor as we work on it together. I guess the later half of the previous statement is the best thing about it. Anyway does anyone have a usable crank available at a fair price.

I have one and maybe two sitting in blocks at my dads farm. Is michigan too far away for shipping? Would need to pull them and check the quality and size. Let me know. A fair price is all I would want. I am rebuilding too, and this gets expensive.

No, Michigan would not be to far to ship from. "Old" said he thought he had one hidden away that was suppose to be in good shape, so he's looking also.
Yeah, its already cost me more than its worth.. But I will not knock it in the head. Besides the kids like it & so does my better half.

You know? I've been to Ebay, really don't shop at Ebay, but was there a day or so ago. Oddly enough, I believe I saw one there. I don't mind looking at Ebay (Allis Chalmers) but don't buy much ever.

Give some serious thought to taking it to a machine shop and see if they can weld it up, grind it back down...trued. I've had cranks rebuilt that way, welded up, ground back down to standard. Only had one problem when they stood a crank off to the side hot as opposed to hung it for cooling and it warped. Couldn't see it by eye, but once torqued the caps in place, frozen stiff. Took it back, they fixed it. One thing's for sure, if a local machine shop doesn't get it right, they're the warranty. If buy/get/happen a piece of scrap from Ebay or somewhere else...who's your warranty?

Could you not get the .030 bearings or is the c/shaft to far gone. Tractor c/shaft will take a lot of abuse, low RPM's.

Its to far gone! It is amazing how stuff can run and be so out of specification. I know a guy who bought a Chevelle on Ebay for a large some of money all restored. I had to rebuild the engine because they put .002" US bearings on a .020" US crankshaft. He had over twenty thousands clearance on the rods. Figure the only thing that keep it from blowing up was the high volume oil pump.

I have one that spun one rod bear but could be turned easy and if I can find it I should have another one, but thats if I can figure out where I hid it. I woulkd want core price for the one that needs work and aa little more for the other if I can figure out where it is. E-mail is open
