I have an older allis chalmers c that will sit and idle all day. However, when I hop on it to do anything it will go just a little ways and stall out. It won't start until it cools down. I have had the valves adjusted when it was warm. I have had the magneto rebuilt already and I don't think it is carberation because while it is idling it sounds great. Is there anything else I can try?

Old's right...gotta clean the carb out. Even when your idling, if you put it in gear and let out on the clutch, the gov tweaks the carb alittle to compensate for load, so it pulls the throttle off of idle. If there's crud in the bottom of the carb, then she'll go hyper lean and die...

Idles ok but doesn't pull or if it does not for long sure sounds like a fuel problem. It it has the non adjustable main jet like it should have do this. Pull the plug that covers the main jet, turn on the gas. You should get a good but small flow there it you don;'t the main jet is clogged and yes it will idle all day long because its running on the idle jet not the main when its is at idle

I ran in to a problem just about like this on a tractor of a friend of mine. It was a 35 massey, the fuel tank had crap in it and would not let the flow of gas into the sediment bowl. It would idel all day long but when you put a load to it, it would starve for gas. see if you have a good flow from the tank.
