I just bought a 1941 WC and was wondering if it would be a 6 volt positive ground or what. I bought the shop manual and it does not clarify that point. Thanks for any info, Jeff

The WC was originally a 6V Pos. grd system like the other models of that era. The Distributor has been added by a previous owner more than likely. We offer a new 6V wiring system for the WC/RC which incorporates a circuit in our harness for a Distributor option. Our 12V conversion system also has the Distributor circuit added. Drop us a line if interested, be happy to help...

the conversion is basically to switch the cables on the battery. it is slightly more complicated than that, but see which battery cable is grounded to the frame... original starter dont care, distributor needs a 12 volt coil or reducing resistor, and the + terminal on the coil should go to the switchn not the distributor.. thats all.

When new it would be a 6 volt + ground but if it has been switch over to 12 volts then it will most likely be a - ground.

Question for Old. in reply to old, 01-08-2008 14:31:29
Is there any easy way to tell if it was converted? I noticed that it has a distributer which I believe was not even an option on the WC?

My WC speed patrol has a distributor, same engine and almost the same tractor also. If it has a generator it is most likely still 6 volts but if it has an alternator then you have about a 99% chance its 12 volts and - ground also
