I want a means of reseeding horse pasture, about 1 Ac., Colorado mountains but the pasture soil is not too rocky and better than you might expect.
Historically this is ranch and grazing land and has brome and orchard grass/other grass (and weeds of course). Two mini horses and a donkey are making short work of existing grass though. I have done some hand casting of pasture mix but not how I want to do it going forward!
I've gone over it with a chain harrow (English harrow) pulled by my TO20 with good effect, busting up horse manure. Love that thing, tidies things up nicely and gently levels the dirt without ripping up TOO much. I will probably flip it tooth up next time.
Looking online at the standard lawn tractor tow-behind spreaders. Seems like prices are $100-$300 depending on size, the construction looks a bit light shall we say on the cheaper ones.
Suggestions, cautions, or ideas on a spreader? Rollin' snake-eyes on Craigslist except for some small units.
Also, Any fertilization suggestions aside from spreading horse manure and sawdust bedding?
