Last night I was getting my taxes together and doing some figures on a cash rent bid to try and get some new ground for next year (after my figures I don't know why I must just like farming that much). Last year with decent crops and prices my beans on shared ground made me before my time and fuel and equipment cost $274.38 per acre not bad I thought and my corn made me a little sick when I penciled it out at a loss of $45.43 and I thought it was good corn for that ground. I really don't know how I can cut my cost down that much more and expect to grow any corn at all. I don't know if I go for broke and try and load the ground up with even more N and try a couple other things, or would I just be trading dollars? I'm no big farmer by any stretch and would like to get a little bigger but with these numbers it makes me question a lot of things.
