Holy Cow! If you worked ten hours a day, you averaged 10 acres per hour! You had to be wide open in third gear. I learned to mow with 8N/7ft in the late 40's & early 50's but I had to go at PTO speed in second gear and five acres was not quite ever achieved, if memory serves. Hard seat didn't bother us youngsters then, but have been payin' for it a long time now. (Still have an 8N, but with fancy seat)
