Depends on where your at of course, but here i plant oats a lot in the fall. Might not work where your at if you have bad winters because they will freeze kill. Winter wheat maybe?its kind of a staple food for deer here, and it MIGHT handle dry conditions better than clover or something. Sudan or sorghum does pretty good here in the dry but its awful late. I would check into wheat myself. We used to plant it right in the standing corn rows. And i'm rebuilding my old drill made for that. I planted some durana clover late last fall and it did fairly well, but we had just enough rain over the winter to keep it going and a pretty mild winter. You could have a problem with clover or something if you gave your corn a lot of nitrogen also. I would vote for wheat. doesnt take much to get a fair stand and you probably could just sow and disc it lightly in a food plot.Last year we were in pretty much the same boat,i mixed oats wheat and rygrass in the drill, and it did good.

Although he himself has never actually owned or restored a tractor, he was always enthusiastic and always around helping with other peoples projects.
