Mark SAFETY is also a chain of events. We have guns in our home, we have ammo in our home, we have kids in our home.....but you 1st talk to your kids about it -AWARENESS. Show them what guns can do. I explain that they are a tool, alot like the tools we use in the shop, you can do allot with them but they can hurt you and others and can kill you and others if not used in a propper manner. I make sure that they are not a mystery of forbidden but can only be used in the right context with the right supervision. ALL our guns have trigger locks and are in a gun safe. If you have to unlock twice it brings more awareness and seriousness to the situation. ALL ammo is in a dirrerant location. MORE AWARENESS. When we shoot guns TOGETHER we have a box with all the safety equipment in it. If you use safety equipment it brings MORE AWARENESS. Finally EVERY time we get the guns out we talk, talk, talk about them and what they do. Failure to do this makes ME as a parent NEGLAGENT. -just like this kids father.
