I love hockey and am no football fan, but them folks down there take them Cowboys real serious like. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but that's their deal, not the rest of the world's.

Years back I was at a huge bar down there when they were playing someone on Monday Night Football. No big deal to me. I was drinking a beer with some guys that I was down there with. I got up and went to the bar for another round, and some fella championed them Cowboys to me. I hadn't paid attention to the game, but shrugged and nodded that he was probably right and let it go at that. I said or did nothing disparaging, except for one thing. I wasn't estatic about them Cowboys, and that started some stuff right there. How dare I not love America's Cowboys as much as the whole dang world was sposed to. I didn't start out disliking them, but the more that I was told by the fella about how I was disrespecting them by not realizing how the sun rose and set in the desert because of them, especially before and after Monday Night Football games...well, thats all it took to change my mind about them sissies, and let him know it. It turned out to be a pretty good fist fight. Was five of us and more than that of them and no one called the cops, for which I'm thankful. We were just out for a couple of beers and happened to do it in a Dallas bar when America's team was playing Monday Night Football. They do take them Cowboys serious down there.

Today's Featured Article - An Old-Time Tractor Demonstration - by Kim Pratt. Sam was born in rural Kansas in 1926. His dad was a hard-working farmer and the children worked hard everyday to help ends meet. In the rural area he grew up in, the highlight of the week was Saturday when many people took a break from their work to go to town. It was on one such Saturday in the early 1940's when Sam was 16 years old that he ended up in Dennison, Kansas to watch a demonstration of a new tractor being put on by a local dealer. It was an Allis-Chalmers tractor dealership, ... [Read Article]
