Sounds like one of them problems that go away as soon as you go looking for it only to return when you least want it to. My first inclination would be to have the test light in hand to se if power is making it to the clutch when the mower is not running. Could be a situation where the clutch or switch acts up intermittently. In any case the test will have to happen right at the time its acting up.
