Vinegar is acetic acid in a dilute form, with a lot of other "impurities" -- probably sugars etc. I don't know the concentration but it is probably less than 10%. A more pure form of acetic acid can be had at a photographic supply store. It is usually sold in either 28% or "glacial" ( max concentration) Caution --glacial is flamible. Would I use it to "boil out " scale? I don't think I would. It will loosen the scale (but only slowly) but it will also attack copper and brass. Muriatic (mason supply)acid will eat the scale a lot faster, but again I would hesitate to put it in my machines. Best bet --- buy the store bought 2 part stuff. If the scale is real bad use it a second time. If that doesn't do it --- then it is time to pull the rad. and take it to a rad. shop for a professional boil out.
