The center plate in the original pump cracked. The consensus was that water froze and cracked it (it did happen during the coldest days of this winter)or that the pressure was too high. At first I thought maybe the water freezing did it. Now I wonder if I don't have an excessive pressure problem. That is why I want to get an accurate check on the pressure. The relief valve is adjustable. shims behind the spring to increase pressure and crush washers at the valve stem head to reduce pressure. I have no shims in and have inserted a crush washer. By all rights I should be below normal pressure, yet my reading was WAY HIGH! I'll break it down again next week-end to check the valve & seat again, and try again. Thanks Stan(Mo)
