You can "hotwire" your generator to test it. Put your tractor in fast idle (generators don't charge at low RPM) There should be two connections on your generator. Find the one that goes to your battery and ground the other one. Your generator should be charging at it's full capacity. You should hear it take a load and you should be able to see the voltage increase with a voltmeter. This is a temporary test and not a fix. If you leave this setup, you will fry your battery. A few minutes won't hurt but constant charging will. Good luck.
