Junk Tractor, Transmission Upkeep?

I have a junk 1949 MH I use for parts for my other tractor. It sits in the field propped up in the back field on blocks. (kinda undignified really for the ole' gent!). I am toying with the idea of taking all the gears out of the transmission and simply reassembling them in shish kabob fashion, shims and all and placing them in my loft. Another option is to fill the case with old crankcase oil to the top so every part has oil, even if it's old contaminated oil. I think I may have some seals that are gone though. My guess is the tractor will sit for a few years, if I need it at all. I'm concerned about rust buildup on the bearings and gears for sitting so long. What do you think guys?
