Where you just make the bellhousing bolt holes in the engine plate for the V8,, there is not enough room across the bellhousing, and no room for the oil filter, and the block mounted starter. One way you can put it in there, is to get a 4 speed bellhousing from the chevy, and bolt that to the engine plate. you would have to extend the input shaft out, and adapt the chevy spline to the IH input shaft for the clutch disk to work. With a little frame rail modification, you can put the Chevy V8 in the H, but you got to use the 4 speed bellhousing to move the engine forwards a bit to make room for the starter, oil filter. This way, you keep the chevy flywheel, clutch, bellhoung mounted starter, and still look pretty decent. Other ways would be eliminate the center bellhousing of the H an build frame rails from the rear end housing to the front, and start from scratch. Chad
