I have a 5 level fusion in my lower back. I could barely walk before it was done. The type of treatment your talking about may bring temporary relief but is not a long term cure. I had to herniated discs. Since the surgery, my mobility is much improved. But my pain is 24/7. Unlike Old my lifting ability returned to close to what it was. I think just getting on the downhill side of 50 hurt my lifting more than the surgery. Based on my experience, avoid surgery as long as you can. But do not put it off so that you due permanent damage. Good luck with it.
