I made a pole last fall. I've not put it up yet. I used 6 pieces of 2x6 16' foundation grade. At one face I used two end to end with a slope cut on the top end. In the center layer I cut one in half, put half at the bottom, a 16' in the middle and the othr 8' at the top cut with a double bevel. For the other face I cut 4' off a 16', put 12' at the bottom, then a 16' the that 4' on top with a bevel. I nailed together with stainless steel nails and glued with gorilla glue. Its more flexible than a pole, but less costly than a new pole. I may get it up this spring with a light on it. The face layers I cut beveled and oriented so water wouldn't run into the center of the pole. In the middle of Iowa, the wood cost about $96. Gerald J.
