I have a big 8-foot dish, and I sprang for a 4dtv unit. When I was last attempting to re-aim the dish, RFDTV was coming in just fine, and I don't pay a subscription to anything. Lots of stuff is free on the digital side of the 4dtv. For local weather, I got an HDTV tuner and hooked it up to my non-hdtv television. Local weather comes in off the antenna on my roof. Of course, I don't have a missus to complain about how bad the big dish looks out there in the yard!
