A hybred costs more to operate then a car that gets even average fuel mileage, not to mention the fact your limited to the dealership for any kind of service. The Mustang has been in continuous production since 1964. The first generation was based on the Falcon platform 64-73, the second generation was based on the Pinto platform 74-78, the third was based on the Fox (Granada) platform 79-93, the fourth generation was based on a redesigned Fox platform 94-04, and the current generation is based on a redesigned Lincoln LS platform. The 94-2004 Mustang GTs are pretty good cars, the 4.6 engine (96-04) is tough enough to take the abuse from hot rodder drivers but was always considered underpowered compared to other manufacturers offerings. The weak point in the power train has been the 5 speed Borge/Warner, thye just could handle being abused. The 94-04 V6 Mustangs have the old Ford 3.8 and with it came the head gasket problem that was supposedly solved around 1997 or so.
