Well, we have now determined how big a plow I can pull with my Oliver 1955, but now I am not sure if I should plow at all. For those who have not read the previous post, I have some hay fields down in a creek bottom, about thirty acres down there. Used to have cattle grazing on them and the fields are rough as heck and tore up. My wife does all the raking and some tedding and when running our smaller tractors across these fields it is pure hell. It is hard on my tractors and my wife! I have a mixture of fescue and orchard grass growing there now that has been baled the last two years. Got the fields growing some decent grass, but still have some weeds. I want to either get more orchard grass going or maybe get some timothy going. So, opinions please. Do I plow, disc, drill? Spray, disc, drill? Chissel plow, disc, drill? Tillage in the fall and disc and drilll early spring, or do it all in september?
