Dry tires and external cast weights pull more and use less fuel, all other factors identical. Field tests by the tire companies prove that one. Should the unfortunate happen with a tire puncture or a failed/torn off valve stem. The dry tire is cheaper, faster and less mess/damage to repair/change. Calcuim Chloride does a real number on paint/metal in just minutes. A dry tire with external weights rides better than a filled tire as well. The only time to use internal ballast is when using a loader on a 2WD tractor. Is Tt suppliment the external cast weights which are also required. And either beet pulp or windshield washe r fluid are the only two sensible considerations. Why try to control/prevent a potential problem with cacl when you can just substitute and eliminate the problem?
