Ken, it will deffently go through the hard pan, I pull mine 22" deep. You might want to check to see how deep you have to go, another thing is most places you can't run elect and water in the same trench. Where I live the water has to be 5'deep and power only 36" deep.Just something to think about good luck Ron I have one for sale but it takes atleast 180 horses to pull it.
