Rusty, is funny that you should mention that run. Talkin to Indiana Troopers, there is a plan to include Interstate 65 as part of a highway that goes from Mexico to Canada. No bull. Talking to Troopers in both Illinois and Indiana, they can spot a Mexican truck a mile away, and they aren't road worthy. They are junkers that should be in salvage yards but end up south of the boarder, and will become deadly road hazards and breakdowns looking for a United States to happen in, once that highway goes through.

Perhaps you've heard me speak of the former Illinois Gov. George Ryan "CDL's for campaign contributions" in other posts? Here's the deal: While Secretary of State for Illinois, he was selling CDL's under the table for $1000.00 a pop (campain contributions). What blew the lid off of it was a firey crash on Interstate 55 just south of Chicago that killed 6 children from Wisconsin. One of these CDL's went to a Mexican whom couldn't speak english, couldn't read road signs, had no business in the cab of a semi. He was tooling his semi up I55 near Chicago, his load of junk was unsecured, a large piece of steel flew off the back of his trailor and ended up under the gas tank of a Dodge Caravan driven by a preacher/pasture from Wisconsin. The preacher and his wife barely made it out of the Caravan, all 6 of their children were burned to death (couple/few years ago). SOI Police traced all back to the truck driver, and when began digging, found the tip of the iceberg on a very large CDL for bribes scandel.

As soon as it made national news, like 20+ states immediately revoked/suspended the CDLs of all drivers that obtained them initially from Illinois during that period, then converted them to their own states. For those guys, it became a matter of retest, or no more driving.

It gets worse. SOI Police and SOI Secretary of State Police went into CDL License facilities and began seizing computers and documents, and taking people (employees) out in cuffs.

It gets worse: As authorities get close to moving in on the then Governor, he puts a moratorium on the death penalty cases in Illinois the same day officials start announcing indictments for the CDL scandal. What happens? He makes international news, is nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his stance on the death penalty, given an award from the country of France, and awards from Amnesty International. As long as he's in such a limelight, no one's gonna put cuffs on "such a good guy", right?

It gets worse: The then Governor's runnin' out of time, the end of his first term is almost over, he's not gonna be re-elected, so he doesn't even bother runnin' for a second term. But what's he do just moments before his term is over, to give him some more breathing room for the cuffs? He commutes every death row case in Illinois. There were 160 male and female inmates sitting on muderer's row in Illinois, and in 4 hours, he "reviewed each case", and commuted every single one. Again, nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, etc. While he's in the international limelight, no one's gonna slap the cuffs on such a good guy. One of the inmates sentence was 3000 years or death, which ever came first, and it wasn't for being a nice guy. Another was for disemboweling a little girl with a claw hammer after she let her boyfriend rape the little girl. These are just two highly documented cases of many.

Well, he's been out of office for a while, and out of the international limelight, and there's a prison cell that has his name on it. Some of his top aids went to prison over this. His legal counsel went to prison over this. He's going to prison, mark my words.

If had more time, would get into his two trips to Cuba, after the State Department told him not to, and my theory why he did it, but that would be gettin' way too far off of not only topic, but even this topic.

Now I vented too. Sorry.

Today's Featured Article - An Old-Time Tractor Demonstration - by Kim Pratt. Sam was born in rural Kansas in 1926. His dad was a hard-working farmer and the children worked hard everyday to help ends meet. In the rural area he grew up in, the highlight of the week was Saturday when many people took a break from their work to go to town. It was on one such Saturday in the early 1940's when Sam was 16 years old that he ended up in Dennison, Kansas to watch a demonstration of a new tractor being put on by a local dealer. It was an Allis-Chalmers tractor dealership, ... [Read Article]
