John Deere 110 serial numbers

Hello all. I have a small problem- I am trying to figure out what year JD 110 I have to aid in ordering parts, however the panel on the dash that contained the serial number is missing (rusted off). I am able to read the serial number on the mower deck, though. I've narrowed it down to an early to mid 70's model. My question is: On a stock tractor (assuming that the deck matches the tractor and wasn't replaced) will the deck serial number match the tractor serial number? Either way, is there another way to tell approximately which tractor I have?
